Burlington Public Schools is now offering string instruments including violin, viola, and cello to elementary students in all four elementary schools in Burlington, MA.  Small group lessons will begin in 3rd grade and lessons will continue in 4th and 5th grade. String Orchestra will begin in 4th grade as an addition to the lesson program, offered once a week.

This blog will:

4) provide fun facts, recordings, links, and videos about violin!

About The Violin Teacher at Pine Glen:

Laura Berger holds a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music and received a Masters in Violin Performance from the Hartt School of Music. Laura is registered to teach Suzuki Violin books 1-8, trained by Teri Einfeldt of the Hartt School Community Division. Laura teaches Strings and General Music in the Burlington, MA public schools. Her previous teaching positions include Strings Specialist at the Backbeat City Performing Arts Center in Glastonbury, CT, where she taught beginners through the Suzuki Method. Her performance experience includes professional employment with the Orchestra of Northern New York, Delaware Valley Opera, and Hartt School Ballet Orchestra. She has held concertmaster positions with both the Crane Symphony Orchestra and Crane Opera Ensemble of SUNY Potsdam. During the summer of 2008, Laura performed as a first violinist with the International Chamber Music Festival in Bulgaria. Laura has studied with violinists Anton Miller, John Lindsey, and Dr. Ray Iwazumi. Laura was awarded a Certificate of Honor in Music Performance from the faculty of the Crane School of Music in 2011. Laura actively teaches and freelances in the greater Boston area. Laura also enjoys playing bluegrass fiddle in her free time.
